In addition to providing a warm, friendly environment, we endeavour to produce as many ingredients from the menu ourselves. This ranges from cured pancetta, black pudding, sausages and our ever popular hand-cut chips.
Following intensive courses in Nantwich, Matteo has mastered the art of cheese-making and achieved a number of awards for a range of dairy products. Our rich and creamy 'Birchover Blue' cheese is often available on the menu and sometimes to buy to take away.
In addition to winning silver at Nantwich for his Caerphilly, Matteo has won numerous awards for butter, cream, mozzarella, Chatsworth choice award for 'Frillo' (hard cheese) and a trophy for a celebratory cheese board.
Every dairy product produced on site is hand-made from start to finish and uses milk from a farm less than 5 miles away.
